Tarni White is a fearless, high output midfielder whose journey from Queensland’s bayside to AFLW stardom is marked by resilience, versatility and leadership. Originally drafted by St Kilda in 2019, White made an immediate impact before a serious ACL injury sidelined her for over a year. Her comeback was nothing short of inspiring earning Rising Star recognition and multiple top-10 finishes in the club’s Best & Fairest count.
In 2023, White made the move to Collingwood, where she quickly became a key contributor across midfield and defensive rotations. Her toughness, elite tackling and ability to break lines have made her one of the most reliable and respected players in the league. She played all 10 games in her debut season for the Pies and signed a three-year extension through 2026.
In 2025, Tarni enjoyed a breakout season, playing every game for Collingwood and emerging as one of the competition’s premier rebounding defenders. Her career best year was highlighted by a second-place finish in the club’s Best & Fairest and selection in the AFLW All-Australian squad, cementing her status as an elite performer.
Off the field, White is known for her humility and work ethic. She grew up playing rugby before switching to footy at age nine, often competing as the only girl in her team. Her legacy is already felt in Queensland junior footy, where Wynnum Football Club created the “Tarni White Rising Star Award” in her honour.
Whether it’s shutting down opposition midfielders or driving forward with purpose, White brings grit, poise, and a deep love for the game.
