Sofia Hurley is a rising midfield star whose composure, ball use and endurance have made her one of the most exciting young talents in the AFLW. Drafted from the Sandringham Dragons and South Melbourne Districts, she was a standout in the Vic Metro program and a member of the AFLW U18 National Academy.

Hurley’s breakout came in 2023 when she earned an AFLW Rising Star nomination in Round 8. She followed that up with a stellar 2024 season, winning the Sydney Swans AFLW Club Champion award at just 20 years old. Her ability to accumulate possessions, break lines and deliver under pressure has made her a key figure in Sydney’s midfield rebuild.

In 2025, Sofia continued her development at the elite level, playing nine games for the Swans and again showcasing her class, work rate and leadership through the midfield, further cementing her status as one of the competition’s premier young on-ballers.

Off the field, Hurley is known for her laid-back personality and leadership potential. A proud Caulfield Grammar alum, she continues to inspire young athletes through her journey from grassroots football to the elite stage.
