Rene Caris is a commanding ruck known for her aerial presence, physicality and resilience across multiple AFLW clubs. Originally from Horsham, Victoria, she was drafted from the GWV Rebels and made her AFLW debut with Geelong in 2019, playing 12 games across four seasons.

After stints with Geelong and GWS, Caris found a home at St Kilda, where she has continued to develop as a reliable tall option. By the end of 2024, she had accumulated more than 20 AFLW games, averaging 9.6 hit-outs and 5.7 disposals per match for the Saints.

In 2025, Rene continued to play an important role in St Kilda’s ruck rotation, providing consistent contest work, strong aerial presence and the flexibility to impact both at stoppages and around the ground. Her performances further cemented her value as a dependable and physical presence in the Saints’ structure.

Off the field, Caris is studying Civil Engineering at Deakin University, balancing elite sport with academic excellence. She’s also been vocal about athlete health, having shared her concerns around concussion and long-term brain health following a landmark CTE diagnosis in the sport.
