Monique Conti is one of Australia’s most accomplished dual-sport athletes, having achieved elite success across both football and basketball. Throughout her junior years, Monique excelled in both codes, representing Australia at the U17 Basketball World Championships, where she won gold and earned selection in the World Team, before returning in 2017 to compete at the U19 World Championships. Her talent was further recognised when she was selected in the inaugural AFL Women’s Academy, highlighting her exceptional ability across both sports.

Following an outstanding 2016/17 basketball season, Monique claimed WNBL Rookie of the Year, earning a four-year contract with the Melbourne Boomers while still completing Year 12. At the conclusion of the season and fresh off international duties, she showcased her resilience by playing VFLW football with Melbourne University. Her strong form led to her being selected with pick three in the 2017 AFLW Draft by the Western Bulldogs, launching her elite football career alongside her professional basketball commitments.

Monique made an immediate impact in the AFLW, using her speed, agility and elite ball use to break lines and drive attack for the Bulldogs. She delivered a match defining performance in the 2018 Grand Final, winning Best on Ground as the Bulldogs claimed their historic premiership. That season she also finished runner-up in the AFLW Rising Star and was named the club’s Best First Year Player.

In 2019, Monique again demonstrated her elite professionalism, flying interstate between basketball finals and AFLW matches, before winning the Bulldogs’ Best & Fairest. At the end of the season, she made the bold decision to join Richmond for their inaugural AFLW campaign in 2020.

While Richmond faced early challenges, Monique thrived, cementing herself as one of the competition’s premier midfielders. She has since claimed seven club Best & Fairest awards, multiple All-Australian selections, and the AFLPA MVP in Season 7 (2022). Her dominance continued in 2023 when she won her first league Best & Fairest, leading the AFLW in clearances and ranking top five for disposals and metres gained.

In 2025, Monique delivered yet another elite season, producing consistently dominant performances for Richmond and once again leading the midfield with her trademark intensity and class, capped off by claiming her seventh club Best & Fairest award, further solidifying her legacy as one of the greatest players in AFLW history.

Alongside her football career, Monique has continued to shine on the basketball court, winning a WNBL Premiership with the Southside Flyers in 2020, before returning to the Melbourne Boomers in 2023/24. Following a change of ownership, the club became Geelong United, where Monique continues to play in the 2024/25 season.

A relentless competitor and elite professional, Monique Conti remains a trailblazer across both sports and a true icon of women’s sport in Australia.

Outside of Sport, Mon is studying Psychology at Swinburne University. She is also an Ambassador for Puma, Swinburne University, and the AFLW.
