Jess Vukic is a powerful ruck-forward whose physicality, follow up work and competitive edge have made her one of Hawthorn’s most exciting young prospects. Drafted with pick 23 in the 2023 AFLW National Draft, Vukic made her debut in Round 1 of the 2024 season and played 11 games in her first year, quickly earning a reputation for putting her body on the line and impacting contests with aggression and intent.
She continued her strong progression in the 2025 season, featuring in nine matches and further establishing herself across ruck and key forward roles. Vukic brought consistent physical presence around the ground, contributing important hit-outs, contested ball wins and forward pressure. Her development was rewarded with a finals appearance, gaining valuable experience on the big stage during Hawthorn’s 2025 campaign.
Originally from Victoria’s Eastern Ranges, Vukic was a standout in the Coates Talent League and Vic Metro programs, known for her tap work, defensive pressure and ability to cover ground. Her maiden AFLW goal came in Round 7 against Fremantle in 2024, sealing a win for the Hawks and showcasing her clutch potential.
Off the field, Vukic is grounded and driven, with a strong junior background at Vermont Football Club and Box Hill VFLW. Her journey reflects grit and growth, and her long-term re-signing with Hawthorn signals the club’s belief in her development and leadership potential.
