Emma King has taken women’s football by storm. An athletic ruck who can drift forward and hit the scoreboard, she was the first player selected in the 2014 Women’s Draft by the Western Bulldogs and represented the Dogs in the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Exhibition Games, playing a dominant role in each.

Selected by Collingwood as one of their two marquee players alongside Moana Hope, Emma packed up and moved from Perth to Melbourne ahead of the inaugural AFLW season. She elevated her training standards and preparation, earning selection as starting ruck in the AFLW All-Australian Team following an outstanding debut campaign. Despite a challenging 2018 season for the Pies, Emma finished strongly and continued to establish herself as one of the competition’s premier key position players.

Ahead of the 2019 season, Emma was approached by North Melbourne to join their inaugural AFLW side. She embraced the opportunity and quickly proved to be an instrumental signing, dominating both in the ruck and forward line. While the Roos narrowly missed finals that season, Emma’s impact was undeniable, earning All-Australian honours and a contract extension.

Emma continued her elite form over the following seasons, producing another standout year in 2022 by playing 10 games in Season 6 and 13 in Season 7, kicking 10 goals and showcasing her accuracy in front of goal. Her strong performances carried into 2023, where she played a key role in North Melbourne’s run to the Grand Final.

Across the 2024 and 2025 seasons, Emma remained a crucial pillar of North Melbourne’s premiership success. She played an important role in the club’s back-to-back AFLW flags, providing aerial dominance, ruck craft and scoreboard impact. In 2025, Emma again delivered consistently as part of North Melbourne’s undefeated premiership campaign, reinforcing her status as one of the league’s most dominant key position players.

Away from football, Emma has completed an Architecture degree at University and commenced working for Metricon.
