Eliza James is a dynamic small forward known for her explosive pace, goal sense and ability to deliver in clutch moments. Drafted from the Oakleigh Chargers, EJ made an immediate impact at Collingwood, earning the club’s Best First Year Player award in 2022 and finishing as the leading goalkicker in Season 7, quickly establishing herself as a dangerous attacking option.

Her breakout moment came during the 2022 finals series, where she became the first AFLW player to kick four goals in a finals match, earning AFLW MVP of the Week honours. A natural match winner, Eliza has the ability to turn games with her agility, relentless forward pressure and knack for finding space inside 50.

Across the 2023 season, EJ continued her development, gaining valuable experience and building consistency at AFLW level. She took another step forward in 2024, featuring in 10 matches and contributing three goals, before backing it up in 2025 with another strong campaign, again playing 10 games and bringing trademark energy and creativity to Collingwood’s forward line.

Off the field, Eliza is a proud alum of Star of the Sea College and has deep roots in grassroots football, having played over 100 games with St Peters before entering the elite pathway.
