Selected with Carlton’s first pick in the 2016 AFLW Draft, Bianca Jakobsson was widely regarded as one of the elite talents in women’s football. She made her AFLW debut in Round 1 against Collingwood in front of a packed IKON Park, immediately showcasing her class on the biggest stage.
Enjoying a strong debut season primarily as a forward, Bianca used her exceptional skills and decision-making to become one of Carlton’s most damaging players. This achievement was even more impressive given she was returning from a serious knee injury that had sidelined her for two years prior.
At the conclusion of the season, Bianca was traded to Melbourne, where she settled into her new surroundings seamlessly. In a positive yet challenging year for the Demons, who narrowly missed a Grand Final berth, Bianca delivered a solid campaign and was rewarded with selection in the AFLW All-Australian squad.
In 2020, Bianca stepped away from football to pursue a career in the Police Force before being traded to St Kilda. She made an immediate impact at the Saints, reinventing herself off half-back and recapturing her trademark dash and rebound. Her influence grew year-on-year, culminating in being awarded St Kilda’s Best & Fairest in 2022. She followed this with strong campaigns in 2022 (Season 7) and 2023, playing all 10 games in each season and continuing to provide leadership across the backline.
Across the 2024 and 2025 seasons, Bianca remained one of St Kilda’s most reliable defenders, bringing consistency, composure and strong intercept work to the Saints’ back six. Her experience and reading of the play were instrumental in anchoring the defence and mentoring younger teammates, further cementing her value to the team.
Away from football, Bianca has completed her training at the academy and now works full-time in the Police Force, balancing her professional career with her elite sporting commitments.
