Amelia Martin is a promising forward whose speed, defensive pressure and ball movement have made her one of Sydney’s most exciting young recruits. Drafted from the QBE Swans Academy with pick 56 in the 2024 AFLW Draft, Martin earned her opportunity after a consistent top-age season in the Coates Talent League and standout performances for the Allies at the national championships.
Known for her ability to transition the ball forward and apply relentless pressure inside 50, Amelia kicked three goals across four games at national level and averaged seven disposals and 2.3 tackles per match. Her versatility allows her to rotate through the midfield, while her explosive speed off the mark makes her a constant threat in broken play.
In her debut AFLW season in 2025, Amelia played 10 games for the Sydney Swans, making an immediate impact with her energy, work rate and forward pressure. She averaged around 7.5 disposals and two tackles per match, showing maturity beyond her years and quickly establishing herself within the senior side. After making her AFLW debut early in the season, she continued to grow in confidence and influence as the year progressed.
Originally from Wollongong, Martin’s rise through the Swans Academy reflects her strong work ethic and adaptability. She is viewed as a long-term asset in Sydney’s forward structure and an exciting talent with significant upside for the future.
