Alex Cincotta
Alex Cincotta is a hard-nosed utility for Carlton, admired for his selfless, team-first approach and ability to shut down some of the game’s most dangerous offensive players. His toughness, discipline, and versatility make him a valuable asset across multiple roles.
Following a standout 2022 campaign with Carlton’s VFL side, where he consistently impressed with his work rate and defensive pressure, Cincotta was invited to train with the senior squad during the pre-season Supplementary Selection Period. His commitment and performance during that period earned him a spot on the Blues’ AFL list, a testament to his persistence and professionalism.
Cincotta made his AFL debut in Round 6 of the 2023 season and went on to play 19 games in his first year, quickly establishing himself as a reliable and disciplined presence in Carlton’s lineup. He became known for his ability to lock down opponents, apply relentless pressure, and contribute to transition play with clean ball use and smart decision-making.
He continued that development into the 2024 season, featuring in 16 games and further cementing his reputation as a trusted defensive option. Regularly tasked with run-with roles, Cincotta’s consistency, work rate and accountability were key assets within Carlton’s structure.
The 2025 season presented new challenges, with injury interruptions and strong competition for spots limiting his senior opportunities. Despite this, Cincotta remained a dependable option when selected, continuing to bring intensity, discipline and versatility whenever called upon.
His journey from VFL standout to AFL contributor reflects his resilience, professionalism and unwavering determination to succeed at the highest level.
